What is your story?
I grew up in Maine, which is the Northeastern most state in the United States. I have visited 49 out of the 50 states. I am currently living in Lisle, IL with my wife, daughter, two cats and a Malinois puppy that insists I get 16,000 or more steps a day. When I am not reading, I split my time between writing and photography.

Being tough isn't just being physically intimidating, it is a willingness to be vulnerable, to have difficult conversations, to stand up for what is right even when conforming with the wrong opinion would be easier, or more popular, and to be okay with deficits. They are not weaknesses, they are opportunities for growth.

33 years, 10 months and 3 days ago I overcame my addiction to heroin. When I disclose that experience to people I inevitably get, "You don't look like an addict." I explain that their statement is evidence my personal recovery program is working.
