What is your story?
Country boy who moved to the city in my late teens. My Dad was a rural church pastor and my Mum a high school english teacher. I love food - cooking it, eating it, the science and the history of it. And I've always loved to read. My life has had its ups and downs, including some bits I'd never choose - not for myself or anyone else. Between all these things, I have quite a few stories of my own, too - and a lasting thankfulness to be alive.
How long have you been with TGBC? First Book?
Joined in August 2022 - First book was 400 days by Chetan Bhagat
How did you end up coming to TGBC?
Heard about club through a fellow school Dad and honestly the timing could not have been better. My family had been through a tumultuous time: several house moves and someone close to me surviving a close call with cancer. I wanted to read again and make some more friends. Came along and was struck by the open and authentic stories of the guys I met. And I like that I get to read all kinds of books. Plenty of things I would not have chosen but all great to talk about with other men.
What is your favourite TGBC book?
Neuromancer by William Gibson
Why are you a member of TGBC?
Because I want to read more, talk more, have more friends - and I want see other guys do the same.
What do you think a "Tough Guy" is?
I reckon a tough guy is any man who values perseverance, growth and holds themself accountable for the impact they have on others. A man is tough if he has failed before, or is worried or alone, and he has a go anyway.

The Library of Babel by J.L Borges
What book have we not read that you'd like to do at TGBC?
The Man in The High Tower by Philip K Dick
What's the best thing about TGBC?
TGBC Goons! We don't just read, talk and listen like champions, we get stuff done and we have fun along the way - what could be better?!
What's your favourite drink?
Love a dry, dark Irish Stout
What is something people wouldn't know about you if they judged you by your cover?
People might not realise the number of places I have lived and visited and how that has shaped me.
